Hi, friend! Thank you for joining me on this virtual coffee date.
Today’s Drink Special (I’m committing to this theme, okay!): THE COVER
Drumroll, please…
The illustrator is Poppy Magda (@poppy_magda) and she did such a fantastic job. I mean… the hands! The leg touch! The red brick moment! His tattoo and her moles!!! It’s both a small nod to one of my favorite scenes in the book and a special moment of its own. Also that tagline - more evidence that Vicki Lame (my editor) is a genius.
I have been staring at different versions of this for what feels like ages now and I’m so excited that y’all get to feast your eyes on it too. Congrats on being an early viewer - the rest of the world (read: the people who follow me on social media lmao) has to wait until tomorrow. I don’t have anything else to say that wouldn’t just be a string of heart eye emojis. Told you this one would be shorter!
A Biscotti with Your Coffee
Books: I started Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin and thus far it is 1) as good as everybody says it is and 2) hitting very close to home. I’m also in the midst of the YA novel Not Here to Stay Friends by Kaitlyn Hill, a fellow romance author who watches the Bachelor franchise while helping her partner build Legos (weird that there’re two of us), and it is nothing short of delightful.
Podcast: Maintenance Phase, which largely focuses on debunking diet and wellness fads. Nothing in particular is making me recommend it right now, but everyone should listen. Is it my favorite podcast of all time? Probably. Thank you, Chapla, for introducing it to me. Related to the Books section: there is a bonus episode on Patreon in which Aubrey explains The Bachelor to Mike and it is truly incredible.
Films: My partner and I randomly decided to watch the Maze Runner trilogy. I don’t understand why they didn’t just make Teresa British. There was already another British person there, so like it was allowed?? It was def giving Robert Pattinson in the first Twilight movie. Obviously, we had a great time. Dylan O’Brien should be a scream queen; he has a FANTASTIC scared & confused face.
Mwah,
