Hello, friend! Thank you for joining me on this virtual coffee date.
Today’s Drink Special: Signed copies from my local indie!!!
I am so excited to be working with Third Place Books to bring you signed copies of Thank You for Sharing! You can pre-order them here, and if you’d like personalization, just request that in the comments at checkout.
TPB was the first bookstore I went to when I lived in Seattle for the summer, and I worked on some of the line edits for TYFS from one of their café tables. They also have a HUGE romance section, which I adore. I am so excited to see TYFS on shelves there!
Whether you order from Third Place Books, your own local indie, or anywhere else, don’t delete your receipt! You’ll be able to get some goodies for your trouble (keep an eye out for that announcement).
A Biscotti with Your Coffee
Books: I just finished Romantic Comedy by Curtis Sittenfeld, which I picked up from the library upon reading Roxane Gay’s Goodreads review of it. It was incredible, and I agree wholeheartedly with her assessment. God, that whole second act of emails had me kicking my feet and giggling!! I just started Love Interest by Clare Gilmore, another Fall 2023 debut from SMP, and it has made me laugh so much in such a short period of time. Also—there is a nervous workplace deodorant scene early on in both Love Interest and TYFS. High art, I tell you.
Music: I would like to tell you that I am not exclusively listening to Bad Bunny anymore and it would be technically true but just barely so I won’t do that. Please don’t message me about the Kardashians or anything, I promise you I know. My essay on the 3 famous husbands I’ve lost to Kendall Jenner TK (thank you, Alicia).
Podcasts: If you’re a lefty (I don’t mean handedness) who enjoys righteous anger mixed with humor, I cannot recommend 5-4 (a podcast about why the supreme court sucks) enough (I was missing the word “enough” in the email I am SORRY the podcast is GREAT). I will give a warning that the hosts, particularly one of the male hosts, do on occasion looks shame some of the really evil men who are actively/have actively destroyed civil rights protections. This seemed to tone down as the podcast went on (does it have something to do with Peter starting another podcast with one of the co-hosts of Maintenance Phase? who knows). I overall love the podcast, but wanted to flag that.
